During a conference hosted by The New York Times’ DealBook franchise, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon made a strong appeal to some of the world’s wealthiest corporate leaders, urging them to support Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign. Dimon specifically addressed the audience of Wall Street titans, including hedge fund veteran Bill Ackman, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, media titan David Zaslav, and Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Dimon’s message was clear: “Even if you’re a very liberal Democrat, I urge you, help Nikki Haley, too. Get a choice on the Republican side that might be better than [Donald] Trump.” His call for support comes as Haley is gaining new momentum and support from key big money political backers.

Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, recently received a formal endorsement from a political network largely financed by billionaire Charles Koch. This shows a wave of new support for Haley’s presidential bid. Additionally, Haley revealed that she had spoken to Dimon about the state of the economy, showcasing their recent communication.

Despite his call for support for Haley, Dimon stopped short of explicitly saying that the Republican presidential nominee should be anyone but Trump. “I would never say that, you know, because he might be the president and I have to deal with him too,” said Dimon, expressing caution in his remarks.

Haley’s current momentum is not just limited to big money political backers. A recent CNN poll showed that 42% of likely GOP primary voters in the key primary state of New Hampshire supported Trump, with Haley in second place at 20%. This indicates an 8-point increase for Haley since the last CNN/University of New Hampshire poll in September, solidifying her position as a strong contender in the upcoming presidential race.

In comparison, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was at 9%, while former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was at 14% in the same poll, putting Haley in a favorable position.

Overall, Dimon’s call for support for Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign signals a broader shift in the dynamics of the upcoming Republican presidential race, potentially setting the stage for a competitive and closely watched contest in the coming months.
